15 Nov 2009 : Presentation Evening A Great Success
Denholme Clough's annual Presentation Evening was held at Headley Golf Club at the weekend and was a great success.
Brett Wilcock and Alan Parkinson were both double winners, Wilcock claiming the Clubman of the Year and First Team Player's Player prizes and 'Parky' claiming the Second XI batting prize and Players Player.
Jim Holland won the First XI batting prize, Mark Clayton the bowling prize and Ben Waterworth the fielding prize, despite Russell Taylor and Brett Wilcock claiming the same number of fielding marks.
Other Second XI winners were Naz Ahmed (bowling) and Andy Parker (fielding).
Simon Patchett won the Sportsmanship Award, which was first won by Jonny Shaw last year, and there was a special award to Stuart Peacock for playing in each of the last 50 seasons at the club.
Don Sutcliffe and Jim Holland had started the evening with an entertaining review of the season.
Denholme Clough would like to thank Headley for their hospitality and congratulations to the winners. We look forward to another good season in 2010.
27 Oct 2009 : AGM News 2009
Denholme Clough CC held their Annual General Meeting at the weekend.
The main talking point was the state of the clubs finances, as the club lost £970.60. This was a loss for the second year running despite running costs being down by £1770.90.
A spring draw has been organised that will hopefully bring in a large amount. Some fantastic prizes have been donated including a weekend in London for 2 and tickets to Bradford City vs Barnet.
The club is struggling financially as we head into 2010. Anybody who has any fundraising ideas can they let a member of the committee know.
The meeting also saw the election of the club's officials for the upcoming season. Simon Patchett replaces Neil Fawcett as club secretary, Jonathan Shaw shares the league representative duties with Don Sutcliffe and Jim Holland takes on the roles of Child Protection Officer and Cricket Development Group Representative. Pete Dawidowicz was elected to the role of Ground/Building Co-ordinator.
Don Sutcliffe was re-elected as Chairman and Julie Sutcliffe was also re-elected as Treasurer. There is a vacancy for the role of Entertainment/Fundraising Co-ordinator. Anybody interested in this role, or anybody interested in getting involved on the committee should let their interest be known to a committe member.
Jim Holland has been nominated as First XI captain and Alan Parkinson as Second XI captain for the 2010 season. Voting for this will take place at the next committee meeting on 7 December. Anybody wanting to be considered for the roles should again make their interest known to a committee member.
The club members also voted on rule changes for 2010. The first rule change was: "in the event of of a match being abandoned without a ball being bowled, each player shall be required to pay £1 to cover the umpires expenses." The second rule change was to determine a tie-breaker for any prize category at the club awards. It was decided that in the event of a tie, the winner shall be determined by the player who has played the fewest games (see updated constitution in standard forms).
Other news from the meeting included the Alphacast. We still need more people to step up to help sell the tickets and do the draw on a Sunday evening. Anybody willing to help should contact the committee. Also Jonathan Shaw is taking on a task to increase the clubs sponsorship for next season. Anybody interested in sponsoring the club should again contact the committee.
As always we are on the lookout for more players. Details of winter nets shall be out soon. We need to increase our numbers for next season.
